The end of an era.
In the final couple of days of the already unbelievable year that was 2020, the nearly unimaginable news landed in Bruins nation that the Bruins and Zdeno Chara failed to reach a contract extension agreement, and our long-tenured Captain and leader has played his final game for the Bruins. So it came to pass on Wednesday December 30th, 2020 that Zdeno signed with the Capitals. Even though Bruins fans knew the day would one day come, and have been aware that one day our D corps would have to begin a new, Chara-less chapter, it still feels like a shock, even though we all knew the day would come eventually.
Little doubt that Neely and Sweeney made the tough choice to start holding our younger D men accountable and force them to step up to the next level with an eye toward ‘youthing’ and the future- and also to give Charlie McAvoy the opportunity to grow into the role of our next elite level defenseman and leader of the Bruins defense. It’s going to take some time to get used to not having Big Z back there, holding down the fort and calming things down for us, and for the fans, we will never forget his superstar career years leading the Bruins, and the iconic memory of Zdeno raising the Cup in 2011.

As for our beloved Bruins, as with the 2015 and 2016 seasons, we are facing challenges that have us mired in the middle of the standings, and it is safe to say that barring a roster miracle in the latter half of the season that we are going to be battling down to the final days of the schedule for a playoff spot for the third year running. There have been several pleasant surprises so far this year from a handful of players, but there is no doubt that this team is still reeling in the wake of a decimated roster in the wake of nearly a decade of dominance. Rebuilding… sometimes there is no way around it. It is a slow and painful process. We stand with our Bruins throughout regardless.

The Bruins stellar 2014 regular season was capped today with a win over the Sabres that clinched 1st place overall for the President's Trophy, and means that the Bruins are awarded home ice advantage throughout the entire Stanley Cup Playoffs depending how far they go. Still standing by to find out who our 1st round opponent will be, but it looks certain to be either the Red Wings or the Blue Jackets. So it is that the Bruins who have been to the Finals two of the past three years will go into the playoffs as the Eastern Conference favorites. The display of might this season now leaves no doubt that in the past five years that the Bruins and the Blackhawks are far and away the two most consistent elite teams in the NHL. Both squads have been unparalleled examples of high level competitiveness. At no single point this season did the Bruins lose more than two games in a row- that is an incredible feat.
Where does one begin when levying accolades out on our roster this season; the huge loss of veteran defenseman Dennis Seidenberg and and then Adam McQuaid for the majority of the season left a massive gaping hole on our blueline, yet our young call ups Kevan Miller and Matt Bartkowski lined up with our other young D men Torey Krug and Dougie Hamilton and have helped lead the Bruins to defensive glory this season, as the Bruins will finish either 1st or 2nd overall in goals allowed.
Tuukka Rask and his backup Chad Johnson have been astounding all season long, and Tuukka will get his most serious shot at being named the Vezina Trophy winner for the first time in his career. As we have been for several years now, the Bruins are blessed in between the pipes.
The forward lines have continued doing something that they have been the best at in the NHL for the past four years; rolling the most balance and depth of any team in the league, and it shows. Peter Chiarelli was as shrewd as he has ever been this past summer when he acquired Loui Eriksson, Reilly Smith and Jerome Iginla in his ongoing quest to make the Bruins better and better, which is tough to do when you are already an elite team, but he did it. The new guys have simply made the Bruins even deeper than they have been in the past three seasons, which is hard to imagine, but Bruins fans wholeheartedly welcome it. Outstanding seasons across the board for all four lines.
So, entering the 2014 playoffs, the Bruins are a heavy favorite for a return to the Stanley Cup Finals. The Bruins Nation is ready, after a tough loss last June the Bruins are more focussed than they have been since 2011... there is a job to be completed. Time for the team and fans of the Black and Gold to put it all on the line as we do our best to bring the Stanley Cup back to Boston.

While the Bruins are showing that once again they are one of the NHL's elite teams and clearly gaining strength and momentum as the season nears the mid-way point, my Bruins anthem Let's Go Bruins! A flurry of roster activity ensued almost immediately after the Bruins season ended, with a few very familiar faces leaving town for one reason or another. Notably gone are Nathan Horton, Tyler Seguin and Andrew Ference. A new look Bruins will open training camp this Fall, with new notable additions being Jerome Iginla and Loui Eriksson which should all fit together very nicely for the Bruins forward lines. The rather sad departure of loyal Bruin Ference via free agency also starts opening the door for our talented youth in Krug, Hamiltion and Bartkowski to start making the move into becoming full time NHLers on our defense. Much to look forward to in the next several years for the Bruins and their fans, as the team will be a serious contender for the foreseeable future.

A terrific playoff run came to an end for the Bruins at the TD Garden last night as the Bruins fell late in the Game 6 to the Blackhawks. It was an incredibly close series from start to finish, and both teams played extremely well. In the end, I believe that the mounting Bruins injuries (that started back in the second round against the Rangers when Gregory Campbell was lost for the season) started to fatigue the team just a little, and that led to a few errors which the immensely talented Blackhawks capitalized on, and in a series where every game was decided by one goal with the exception of Game 2, those few errors were what I believe to be the difference that weighed in favor of the Blackhawks.
I was in Boston throughout the Finals, and was in attendance at Game 6 when the Blackhawks hoisted the Cup. It was a remarkable thing to experience in person, even though it was not the outcome that we Bruins fans had hoped for. The Bruins fans acted with great dignity and grace towards the thousands of Blackhawks fans that were visiting, and on the streets outside the Garden afterwards I was so very impressed with how well behaved everyone was. It was a real class act by Bruins fans, and made me all the more proud to be a fan of this great team.

Tonight the Boston Bruins pulled off the biggest comeback in the 96 year history of the NHL, and in doing so wrote a new chapter in the record books. With ten minutes remaining in the 3rd period, trailing the Maple Leafs 4 - 1 in the deciding Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Quarter Finals, the Bruins staged a comeback for the ages. With less than two minutes remaining, goalie Tuukka Rask pulled, Milan Lucic pulled the Bruins to within one goal, and then in the waning seconds Patrice Bergeron scored the tying goal to send the game to sudden death overtime. Once in the overtime period, it was Bergeron who delivered the death blow to the Leafs along with linemates Brad Marchand and Tyler Seguin, and in doing so created history. It was the first time a team had ever trailed by three goals in the 3rd period of a Game 7 and come back to win the game and series.
I have never in my life been more excited than I was tonight. It was unbelievable to watch it unfold, there are no apt words to describe what transpired or the feeling of elation. So the Bruins enter Round 2 facing the New York Rangers, whom we have not tussled with in the playoffs since 1973. Very excited for this series as I love both teams. Let's Go Bruins! Let's Go!

I was very fortunate to have access to the 2012 NHL Awards afterparty at the Wynn here in Las Vegas. I met and spoke to Cam Neely, and handed him a copy of Let's Go Bruins! Let's Go! (fingers are crossed!), and I also had the great pleasure of talking to Patrice Bergeron just one hour after his Selke Trophy win! I was able to spend a bit of time with him and the Bruins people in their booth which was nice. Now, that's just the Bruins aspect of my experience! I saw the Stanley Cup up close and personal again, met Commissioner Bettman, Red Wings Hall of Fame legend Ted Lindsay and I had a nice talk, and I was rubbing elbows with almost every elite star in the league who was there as part of the awards show. What a great evening and an amazing memory!

EXACTLY one year to the day that the Bruins won the Stanley Cup, and today by amazing coincidence the preview video for "Let's Go Bruins! Let's Go!" surpassed the 50,000 views mark on YouTube! I am humbled that Bruins fans have embraced the song as they have! I will never forget June 15th, 2011 being inside a jam packed Hurricane O'Reilly's bar down the street from the Boston Garden, and "Let's Go Bruins! Let's Go!" blasting over the club sound system a few times during the breaks during the game! Bruins 4evah!!! The YouTube video for Let's Go Bruins! Let's Go! approaches 50,000 views, meaning that it attained close to 35,000 views in the 2012 season. That is a pretty amazing number, and I am humbled and proud that so many Bruins fans are watching, sharing and downloading the song. My personal Thank You to all the Bruins fans who have supported the song in the first 18 months of release! We are all on the same team!
Remember that "Let's Go Bruins! Let's Go!" is now available for immediate download from Amazon as well as iTunes! It may be summer break for us now, but we can still rock our Bruins during the summer months!

...and so the Bruins season comes to an end after a historical series for the ages with the Washington Capitals. After Game 6 the series entered the NHL Record Book as the first time in the entire history of the NHL that the first six games of a playoff series were decided by one goal in each game. Game 7 continued that path with the deciding (and controversial) goal being scored by the Capitals in overtime. It was that close between the two teams...
The season in my opinion can generally be considered a solid campaign despite the first round exit. The team went through some highs (the historic unbeaten month of November), as well as some rough patches, but managed to battle through the season and finish first in the North East Division with a very respectable 102 points. Although our hopes of the hard to attain repeat champions were dashed in the epic battle with the Capitals, we fans of the Boston Bruins remain steadfastly proud of our team. We will be back more well prepared for the 2013 campaign... count on it.

The Bruins made their annual trek to the West coast late in the season this year, and as usual myself and thousands of other Bruins fans descended on the games in California to cheer on the Black and Gold! This season we finally figured out the Kings for the first time in a while, as they have been giving us fits for the past several years, and it was nice to leave Staples Center victorious for the first time in awhile! This is a myself and fellow Bruins friend Holly enjoying the game from our suite!

Opening night for the Bruins and we have a brand new banner that we saw go up into the rafters tonight that brings our total count to six Stanley Cup Champions banners now! What a beautiful ceremony. All of my Bruins friends were like me, could not watch that with a dry eye. Unfortunately we lost the season opener to the Flyers in a real squeaker of a game! Still an amazing night as our summer with the Cup is now almost at an end and it is time to get down to business defending our championship!

I have talked to so many other Bruins fans who feel like I do, that allot of the time it feels like a dream, yet it is reality, we are the 2011 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!!! Amazing!!!

Hey everyone, I arrived back home from my epic journey to Boston. What a special memory, watching the Bruins win the Stanley Cup, surrounded by the love of the entire city of Boston and New England for the Bruins. So many special moments to cherish for the rest of my life, the highlights being able to attend Game 4, watching Game 6 and Game 7 with friends in Boston, and then being able to attend the victory parade on the streets of Boston. I never, ever dreamed that I could have been so lucky as to have been at a victory parade for the Bruins... I sincerely am so grateful as are all Bruins fans... As I said elsewhere yesterday, I went to Boston with a hope and a beard, and I came back clean shaven and fulfilled beyond my wildest hopes...
Guess what? As I write this update today, "Let's Go Bruins! Let's Go!" surpassed 25,000 plays on YouTube! I am pretty much in awe of that! Combined with the radio play, the street buzz on the song and the incredible feedback I get from those who have heard it I am very, very proud that my song that started out as a show of affection from a huge Bruins fan is getting the appreciation from the Bruins Nation. Perhaps it will get bigger and better! Here's hoping!"

Unbelievable! The Boston Bruins are the 2011 Stanley Cup Champions!!!!! So, so proud of this team and how they overcame every last obstacle during the course of the season and through four rounds of playoffs, it is an extraordinary story to say the least. I had a strong feeling that once the Bruins made it to the Final that there was a reason for me to travel to Boston to be with the team and the fans to add my support! This was a dream come true for me to see them win the Cup again in my lifetime, and for me to be in Boston with friends to celebrate it with! I could write a book on my feelings about what this team accomplished this season, and particularly in the playoffs!
Once again I watched the game at Hurricane O'Reilly's just steps from the Boston Garden (don't dare mess with the mojo!) with a bar packed with Bruins fans, and out of the blue, "Let's Go Bruins! Let's Go!" came on over the house sound system, and then it got played again during a break in the game! I guess it is safe to say that it is starting to get around a bit! Wooooooooo!!!"

Morpheus is in Boston today and attended Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final as the Bruins blanked the Canucks 4 - 0 and tied the series at two games a piece! Friend Steve Babineau who is the Bruins team photographer set Morpheus up with the best seat in the entire Boston Garden, center line lower level Row 14. Can you say 'sweet'?!
In addition, "Let's Go Bruins! Let's Go" surpassed 15,000 plays on YouTube today! Can I hear a "Woooo!" ????

Lots of news off the top of the bat today as the Bruins and Canucks open the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals in Vancouver tonight! 98.5 The Sport Hub the Bruins flagship station have been playing "Let's Go Bruins! Let's Go!" on Gresh and Zolak's show today! The Youtube preview of the song also surpassed the 12,000 plays mark this morning too! Great stuff Bruins fans! Morpheus will appear on Canadian national radio next week to discuss "Let's Go Bruins! Let's Go!" and to discuss the Bruins/Canucks series! The CBC contacted Morpheus today to request an interview for the national morning show 'The Current' that will do a daily segment on the U.S./Canada angle in this year's Stanley Cup Final. In addition to the interview segment they plan to play "Let's Go Bruins! Let's Go!" on the show giving it nationwide exposure! Momentum continues to build!

I have been a dedicated fan of the Bruins for my entire life, so to be able to share 'Let's Go Bruins! Let's Go!' with generations of Bruins fans everywhere is an honor beyond all description. The song literally came to me as a divine inspiration, which for a songwriter is a special occurrence. A seed of the idea for the song popped into my head, and over the course of the next three days the song wrote itself out in it's entirety and completed form in my mind.
